Emperial Watches was founded by three friends from Germany whose careers regularly brought them to Japan — and whose shared passion for watches turned business trips into something much bigger.
While working for a Japanese company in Germany, we traveled frequently to Japan. What started as professional obligations quickly evolved into a deep immersion into Japan’s vibrant watch culture. Through collector meetups and private circles, we connected with a passionate and highly knowledgeable community of enthusiasts.

From Passion to Opportunity
Through local collector networks, we discovered a watch market unlike any other. The Japanese market offered an exceptional variety of timepieces — far broader than what we were used to in Europe — and at some of the most competitive prices worldwide, particularly in the pre-owned segment.
After acquiring our first Rolex watches, our interest became a serious pursuit. We began studying the market in depth and gradually started sourcing selected pieces in Japan and reselling them in Germany.
What began as small transactions soon revealed a larger opportunity: we could build something meaningful around what we genuinely loved.
As we continued sourcing watches, we realized that access to this market was limited for most European buyers. It required time, local knowledge, language skills, and strong relationships, barriers that kept this ecosystem relatively hidden.
We decided to change that.
Despite early logistical challenges, we built the infrastructure needed to source, verify, and deliver watches internationally, making Japan’s exceptional watch market accessible worldwide.
